Because the presence of these wires has come under scrutiny,
it is worthwhile to point out their importance in demonstrating
the ability of the circuit breaker to perform the exact
function for which it is intended,that of safely clearing a
short-circuit while protecting conductors and their insulation.
Some detail of this protection was presented by Chien and
Graham [3].Every time a circuit breaker is tested under
consistent circumstances,it demonstrates that the circuit
breaker design will protect from:
1.lateral forces that tend to break circuit breaker cases.
2.in line forces that tend to pull wires out of connectors
3.I*I*Rheating that tends to melt insulation.
These forces and heating are present on the line side of the
circuit breaker just as on the load side.If a wire comes loose
or its insulation melts on the line side of the circuit breaker,
the circuit breaker is unable to sense such an occurrence,so
it cannot operate to clear it.However,by properly holding
the wire and interrupitng the current through it,the circuit
breaker demonstrates expected protection to connections on
both its line and load side in these tests
