Do you know if there is a shop around here?
去了if就意思改变了，成了大概这个意思--你知道吗？附近有个商店。
而Do you think it's fair，没有必要加上if,人家本来就是问你是不是公平，回答就是或者不是

这里的if就等于whether,表示有没有,而不是假设
