in case 是以防万一，就是防止下雨。 in case (if ) it rains,在if引导的句子中，一般现在表示将来时。又如：Listen out in case he calls。注意听他有可能打来。总之in case表示了一种假设的状态，用现在表示。

in case 后的that从句是虚拟语气，下雨只是一种假设，可能会下雨。rains 表示的一种状态。而will rain 则是下午就会下雨。不能用来表示假设。时间长没做过这些题了。不知道回答你是否满意。
