helpful的否定不是not helpful，应该是helpless，useful也同样。
这里enough更贴切一些。并不是没用，是不足够。

It's (not) enough to do sth. helpful与useful也有此结构,但用在此处意思不妥.

这里强调的是"知道单词的部分"这个条件对该单词的理解的程度作用,一般不能说"没有用",只能说是"充分不充分", 比如说,在阅读理解中,知道单词的一些部分,根据句意,上下文猜测的...
