" I think what i'll do is go get him a croissant down the st

" I think what i'll do is go get him a croissant down the street " a line from gossip girl S1E1.
My question is that why there is a sentence between a phrase " go down
And why are there 2 verbs in this clause? And what does the sentence mean?

man,"go down" is not a phrase in this sentence.
what i understood is that this girl will go to the place--"down the street" and get him a croissant.
it's oral english,so the "and" (between go and get) was omitted.
