请英语大神帮帮忙!
He did not light fire because smoke rising from wood might attract attention.
这里rising from wood是做定语还是状语啊?还有为什么要用现在分词而不用一般现在时呢?

定语 rising from wood修饰smoke
用现在分词是因为这是非谓语,只有doing done to do 三种形式
烟是自己升起的,用现在分词表示主动
smoke rising from wood 相当于 smoke which was rising from wood

嗯，具体视情况而定
非谓语中done表示被动和完成 The homework finished by her is great.
to do 表示将去做 The view to visit is beautiful.

定语啊，这里是表主动语态用现在分词作定语，定语一般动词不用一般现在时呀，要嘛是现在分词要嘛是过去分词的~

定语，解释说明smoke。因为是做定语，与主语构成主动关系，所以是现在分词而不是过去分词。一般现在时是另一种句式哦。。。
