英语语法问题:Watching TV too much is harmful to the eyes.为什么一定要用动名词做主语?to do不行吗?祈使句动词原形也不行吗?

To do 也可以做主语,不过它有“未做,表目的“的这一层意思
To watch TV too much is harmful to the eyes.(电视都没看,何来伤害）
Watching TV too much is harmful to the eyes.（现在分词表示动作正在进行,或保持某一种状态,很明显,经常看电视是一种状态）
