the reader must not be left unsatisfied,这是双重否定句,
=the reader must be left satisfied .
satisfied是过去分词转化来的形容词,常用来形容人的感觉
satisfying是现在分词转化来的形容词,常用来形容物
这里的"不满"是人的感受,译为“令人……”.只能用unsatisfied .
“leave sb(sth)+形容词/现在分词/过去分词”是常用句型,leave 可以指示某人处于某种状态.Unsatisfied 是形容词.“but the reader must not be left unsatisfied”的意思是“决不能让读者不满意.”reader 与 unsatisfy 是主动,但句意不是读者使别人满意,故不可用unsatisfying.
