The line graph below indicates the quantities of freights transported in the Britain from 1974 to 2002 by four different modes of transport.
In 1974,there were about 70 million tonnes of freights transported by road,and the number increased slowly to around 82 in 1991,after that it saw a falling trend until 1995,and it rised sharply to almost 100 in 2002.It is obvious that road was the most popular transportation.
Remotely following were water and rail.From 1974 to 1978,the amount of goods tranported by water and rail remained stable around 40 million tonnes.After that,transported by water became more popular and the amount of goods tranported by water ended approximately 65 million tonnes in 2002.On the other hand,amount of goods tranported by rail decreased from 1978 to 1995,and bottomed at about 30 million tonnes in 1995,after that the number rised to more than 40.
Pipeline seems like the least popular transportation in the UK.Although it saw a rising trend during that period,but due to only less than 10 million tonnes' freight tranported by pipeline in 1974,it ended only around 22 million tonnes in 2002.
To sum up,we can tell that increasing goods were tranported in the UK between 1974 and 2002.
