为什么in the city,city前面一定加the,但如果加多一个形容词big就不要了?
例如do you like live in a big city?类似的还有countryside,village.感激不尽啊.

in the city 是相对于in the country/countryside来说的,均表示不同类别的事物
in a city也可以说,不过in the countryside却不能变为in a countryside.用country或countryside表示“乡下”,通常都要有定冠词the.
in a big city 在一座大城市
in the big city 也可以说,但 in this/that big city （在这/那座大城市）这个表达更合理.

village 和countryside前面都必须加the，好像这是固定搭配是吧。

village特指加the，泛指加a。countryside通常要加the，也有不加冠词的，但不会加a。

in the city 中the 表示特指的那个唯一的 一般都是上文同提到的 city 加一个 in big city 就是泛指了 不过 应该用 in some big cities 或用 in a big city不明白。例如do you like live in a big city？ 意思是 你喜欢居住在较大的城市么？这里较大的城市指代的比较多 就像沈阳 大连...之类凡是大的城市 ...

你喜欢住在大城市里吗，大城市很多，a big city不是特指，换成live in big cities一样能表达，而in the city就是强调，特指在城里，表达不一样。
i live in the city我住在城里，i like living in big cities我喜欢住在大城市里，do you feei like moving to a big city你想搬到一个大城市吗...
