不定冠词的特殊位置介绍?

冠词在句中的特殊位置：在通常情况下,冠词总是放在被修饰和说明的名词之前,若名词前带有定语修饰语,冠词则放在相应的定语之前.但是当名词前的修饰语涉及以下词语时,情况会比较特殊：1.涉及such,what,many 当such,what,many 修饰单数可数名词时,不定冠词应放在这些词之后.如：Many a woman has great influence upon her husband.许多妇女对其丈夫有很大影响.This hospital is a pattern of what a good hospital should be.这家医院就是好医院的榜样.【说明】many a 后接单数可数名词,相当于 many 后接复数名词,但前者为正式用法,且语气较强.2.涉及how,however,so,too,as 当单数可数名词前面的形容词受到副词how,however,so,too,as的修饰时,不定冠词应放在相应形容词之后.如：She could not forgive so terrible an insult to her pride.她不能原谅对她的自尊如此严重的侮辱.He has too mild a nature to get angry,even if he has good cause.他的性情太温和了,即使有充分的理由,他也不会动怒.3.涉及rather,quite 若单数可数名词前有rather,quite 修饰,则不定冠词必须常放在这些词之后.如：Your daughter is quite a beauty.你的女儿真是个大美人.Mr Smith lived here for quite a long time.史密斯先生在这儿住过很久.注意：若该结构中的名词还带有形容词修饰语,则不定冠词可放在这些词语之前或之后.如：He was rather a [a rather] naughty student.他是一个相当淘气的学生.4.不定冠词与 half 在通常情况下,不定冠词位于half之后,如说 half an hour,half an apple 等,不过在美国英语中也可将不定冠词置于half 之前,如说 a half hour,a half apple 等.值得注意的是,在以下情况,必须说 a half,不能说 half a：(1) 当构成复合词时：a half-hour test 半小时的测试 (2) 当half 不表示“一半”时：a half brother 同父异母或同母异父的兄弟 (3) 当表示“几个半”时：two and a half weeks / two weeks and a half 两周半 5.定冠词与both,all,half,twice 当这些词语与冠词连用时,冠词通常放在这些词语之后.如：Not both the boys were ill.并不是两个孩子都病了.Half a loaf is better than no bread.半块面包总胜于全无面包(有比没有好).There isn’t enough room for all the furniture.没有足够的地方放置全部家具.定冠词的五种特指用法：(1) 特指前面已提到的人或物：Look!A car has stopped there.The car is beautiful.瞧,有辆小汽车在那儿停下了.那辆汽车可真漂亮.(2) 特指说话双方都知道或能体会到的人或物：Why not ask the teacher?为什么不问问老师?Pass me the dictionary,please.请把词典递给我.(3) 用于带后置定语的名词前,表示特定的人或物：I like the magazine on the desk.我喜欢桌上的那本杂志.The supper her mother cooked was delicious.她妈妈做的晚餐味道很好.(4) 用于比较级前,特指两个被比较对象中的一个：Of the two brothers,the younger is more interesting.在这两兄弟中,年轻的这个更有趣.(5) 用于加强特指含义,意为“正好是”、“刚好是”等(此时的定冠词需重读)：This is the word to be used here.这是用在这里最恰当的字眼.He is the man for the job.他是最适合做这项工作的人.
