General idea:when the writer was a small young boy,his family had a very hard time,but his mother till tried to work hard and develop her son's talent,most importantly, the mother gave her son the faith: working hard and you will be more succeed,and never be a quitter in face of life.With the faith,the writer became a succeeful reporter at last,but his mother was badly ill and didn't konw his succee.

句型：祈使句 +and/ or + 将来时
but his mother had been badly ill and hadn't konwn his success. 因为这些动作发生在他成名之前,所以用过去完成时态.
