among和sent是分开的,among简单的指给他们送去了什么,set to work 和eating them up ,相当于解释的意思,并没有省略什么.意思是,这个,work=eat them up ...如果有什么不明白,欢迎继续追问

1.调一下语序就明了：

2.set to work：开始做…， 这里的work是动词，所以后面接现在分词
