instead 和 instead of 的用法

Instead:副词,在两个句子间起连接作用
Ex1:If you can't go（从句）,I will go（主句） instead.
Ex2:Mike doesn't study at all.Instead,he sits idle all day.
Instead of:介词短语,连接宾语（名词,动名词,介词,副词）
Ex1:Will you go to the party instead of me?
Ex2:Mike sits idle all day instead of studying.
