more...than 中的more 是比较级,than是比较级的标志.而 more than 是一个词组,在后面加数词的时候可以表示超过,加名词或动名词时候相当于over,not just.
就这两道题来说,1.more其实是跟luxurious这个单词走的,因为luxurious是多音节单词,所以变比较级的时候要在前面加上more 在+than 表示比.奢侈的多.
2.more than就是不仅仅的意思,翻译为不仅仅是闲着.
其实more.than也可以表示与其说,不如说,或者是.或不是.
He is more dead than alive.与其说他还活着,不如说他是行尸走肉.
