The first thing is the UK media who called on that Chinese must swap chopsticks for knife and forks,because of that 1.4 billion people ploughing through 80 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks each year,China has admitted its forests can no longer provide enough cutlery for its use.
In my view, the disposable chopsticks will bring about environmental problems indeed.But it's not the fault of chopsticks, but the fault of disposable dishware.So it's not necessary to let Chinese people give up the chopsticks.
Another thing is the famous actor Huang Bo who said on Wei Bo about the disposable chopsticks.He took a pair of chopsticks into the boiled water. After a few seconds, the water turns into pale yellow, and meanwhile, giving off a terrible smell.
After the exposure, many netizens did experiments, they bought disposable chopsticks with different prices, and took them into boiled water, the results were the same, clean water turns into different levels of yellow.
I checked some information about disposable chopsticks.I think that the cause of the problem is the working process.In order to bleach the chopsticks, they use Sulphur(硫磺) fumigation and boiled with hydrogen peroxide(双氧水), what's more, they polish the chopsticks with paraffin(石蜡).
Sulfur fumigation encounter heat will release So2, and it will corrode people's respiratory mucosa (呼吸道粘膜).Hydrogen peroxide(双氧水) has strong cor rosive. It is harmful to our mouth cavity(口腔), esophagus(食道) and stomach.
