any表示‘任何一门’,与other组成一起,功能上起到another的作用,意为：
你能讲别的外语吗? (除了英语外,别的一门,任何一门外语?）
如没有这个any, 则language要用复数.因为这是可数名词.前面应有限定语.只用other是不够的. 你可以说another student, the other student, any other student, any other students, other students, 但不能只说other student,对吧?
