应该选择C.
句型“It was+一段时间+since+持续性动词的过去完成时”,表示“从……到过去某时间点以来”.意思是昨晚一个人从监狱逃跑了,很长一段时间过后警卫才知道发生了什么事情.
when 是当...时候,until 一般不这样用,多用于not...until,as long as 是只要的意思
