我查了字典,polish不和to连用.这句话的to为何解?

我查了下,polish也可以作不及物动词.这里的to应该不是不定式,而和into差不多,大体是“转变”“变成”的意思.例如：change to(into).
所以这句的结构是 the metal polishes into...and resists.
