what happened to 是一个一般过去时的问句,后跟的时间状语是类似yesterday等一般过去时的时间状语；而what had happened to是过去完成时,后跟的时间状语是类似before you got to the station等这样的时间状语,就是以这个过去的时间点作为参照点,那么这个参照点之前的动作用过去完成时.

要是没有时间状语怎么知道应该是what happened to 还是what had happened to ？
