动名词和不定式作主语的区别在于：
动名词常表示泛指,而不定式表具体特指,往往表示将来行为.如：
Looking after the children is her job.
To look after the children is her job this afternoon.

主语一般是名词和动名词。一般不用动词不定时做主语，因为会显得头重脚轻，所以英语里如果是不定时做主语时一般会将它成It作形式主语，动词不定式放句尾做真实主语，如：做家务事她的义务：一般不会写成：to do homework is his duty,而是写成：It is his duty to do homework.
