当然是The professor explains two ways plant using to protect themselves.
因为use的主语是plant,植物用来保护自己的两种办法.这是主动的,非谓语动词要用ing.
过去分词表示的话,use的主语要变成ways ,方法是被用的,被植物用的,就会用used,表被动.
