spend主语是人,一般花费的是时间
take 主语一般是it,句型：it takes/took ___ for sb.to do sth.
cost 花费的是钱,句型：it costs + 钱的数量
pay 译为付钱,主语是人

cost只能用在花钱上
例:It cost me 5 dollars.
pay和spend钱和时间上都可用，但spend主语是人，
take就只能用在时间上
It takes sb sometime to do sth.

当都作为“花费”的意思时,区别主要在主语。
主语为物：cost，take。比如：It cost my father a lot money to buy the new car.
主语为人：pay，spend。如：My father paid a lot money for the new car.
