Routing with variant configuration?

Routing with variant configuration?
Hi all,I have setup a config.material with variant config.The routing data needs to changed based on characteristics selected.This works OK for all std values (eg setup,machine etc) My problem is that on one of the operations I need to change the UOM conversion?ie.Routing in meters,operation 80 in pc (base) the conversion is 1pc=5m) I need to change this say to 1pc = 10m based on characteristic.I have a characteristic referenced to PLPOD-UMREZ used in a procedure allocated to the operation,but it does not work!Any Ideas?Regards Stacey
