date back是个动词短语,后面接时间段,有to的话后面得接时间点.ago是副词,一般用在时间段之后,表示“……多长时间”以前
1.date back 后面加一段时间
通常翻译成：发生在****年（月、天等）前
如：This story dates back 200 years.
故事发生在200年前.
2.date back to 后面加某一个过去时间的具体时点
通常翻译成：发生在过去****的时候
如：
The church dates back to 1173.此教堂建于1173年.
The town dates back to the Tang Dynasty.这座小镇建于唐代.
